| Planting Tips The best way to plant is to till the ground from one end of your planting to the other (6 to 8 inches deep). Spread compost and tiller in good. Plant by hand & mulch 3 to 4 inches. Water in well after planting. When planting new trees and shrubs in sandy or clay soil, we recommend mixing Black Kow® with and equal part of soil from the planting hole. You will find Black Kow at all Lowes stores. Beware....some nurseries use scare tactics in their sales pitch to steer people away from small Thuja Green Giant plants in order to sell their larger trees.They claim small liners are not well rooted and will not grow much the first year,this is simply not true.
