With its narrow columnar habit of growth, this evergreen forms
tall, dark green columns 25 to 40 feet in height but are often
shorter in the east. Italian Cypress has blue-green foliage and tight
columnar form. Trees are normally no more than three feet wide.
The scale-like leaves lend a very fine texture to any setting. Planted
three feet apart, they make a dense screen. Italian Cypress is often
used for framing, as a strong accent around large buildings, or in
the formal landscape. It quickly grows to 25 to 35 ft. tall looking
much like a green telephone pole.

The Leyland cypress forms a graceful pyramid, with dense
pendulous branches and fine, feathery foliage. This foliage, on
flattened branchlets, is dark green or blue-green and is small and
scalelike. The fruit is a small and brown cone, and creates no litter
problems.
This tree prefers sun to part shade and well-drained fertile soil. It is
very adaptable, however, and tolerates acidic or alkaline soils and
poor drainage on occasion. It withstands salt spray and is suited for
coastal landscapes.

This is a very fast growing, dark green evergreen tree. It
does very well on a wide variety of sites. It can tolerate wet
sights better than Leyland Cypress.
The tree should make a major contribution to the Christmas
tree industry in Georgia. It is possible that diseases might
increase on other cypress varieties and not on this variety. As a
landscape tree it should do well because of its toughness, color,
site tolerance and fast rate of growth.

Bald cypress tree, scientific name Taxodium distichum, is a
deciduous conifer that belongs to family Cupressaceae of the order
Pinales. It is native to the southeastern regions of United States. As
bald cypress is adapted to wet and swampy environments, it is also
referred to as swamp cypress. Similar to other deciduous varieties, it
sheds foliage in the fall season, leaving a bald structure. If
maintained properly, the lifespan of bald cypress trees is expected to
be more than 1300 years.

This rapidly-growing North American native evergreen reaches 30
to 40 feet in height with a 15 to 25-foot-spread. It is referred to as
Cupressus glabra by some botanists. The green foliage has a
silver/gray shimmer and the branches are more open than most
other species of juniper. The inconspicuous flowers are followed by
small, one-inch cones which persist on the tree. The peeling brown
bark becomes gray with age. Arizona Cypress is often used as a
specimen or windbreak planting and is a common sight in west
Texas and the southern High Plains where it tolerates the hot, dry
conditions with ease.

The foliage of the Leyland cypress varies somewhat from one cultivar to the next. But in
general it tends to be arranged in irregularly flat planes with a dark green to gray color. The
shoots branch repeatedly and have a contrasting mahogany color except at the tips. The trees
have little aroma.
